Title: With A Little Help From A Friend?

Summary: When Scully's niece comes to visit for her birthday, Scully and Mulder are in for a big surprise when a friend of Jessy's comes along for a visit.

"Scully, Scully, SCULLY!!" yelled, Scully's teenage niece, Jessy, who was visiting her.

"WHAT!!" answered the short small redhead formally known as Scully. Her niece was already taller than her, so she had to look up at her when she spoke.

"Do you think that this outfit goes go with these shoes?" asked the questionable child.

"Yes they go good with your outfit," said Scully. "But we're only going to the mall today, so what do you need with the outfit?" asked Scully.

"Duh, the mall is the most fashionable place that you can be, plus, there are guys there," said Jessy putting on her shoes.

"That sounds like my niece," said Scully with a grin. "Come on we are going to be late," she said, getting her car keys.

"Oh, my, my. Are we in a rush to meet someone, now are we?" asked Jessy with a small smile teasing the sides of her mouth.

"Oh yes and I forgot to tell you, we ARE going to meet my partner Mulder at the mall to help get...??" she trailed off at the end.

"To get what, Scully?" asked Jessy.

You see Jessy's birthday was coming up and Scully needed help with the shopping so she called Mulder last night an invited him along. Besides he needed a present to give her too since Mulder knew Jessy practically since her birth. "SCULLY!" said Jessy in a shriek.

WHAT?!" Scully asked, nearly louder than Jessy.

"To get what?" asked Jessy again.

"Nothing," said Scully back with a smile.

"No come on, you can't do this," Jessy complained.

"You will find out what later but, for now we have to get into the car," said Scully holding the door open for Jessy.

Jessy pushed back her red hair behind her ears then gave Scully a look with those famous Scully family blue eyes.

'She looks a lot like Bill and...? someone else too,' Scully thought to herself as they left the building.

When they finally got to the mall Jessy saw Mulder and ran up behind him and asked, "Hey you homey, how is it hanging?"

Immediately he knew who it was. "Jessy, how are you?" he asked, only to turn around and see a tall 5'6" girl with strawberry blond hair and a mole on her upper lip.

She reminded him so much of Scully with that hair and those eyes 'MULDER, come back to reality' he said to himself.

"Fine and how are you?" asked Jessy.

"Fine, fine, I'm fine," said Mulder. "Hey Scully," he said. "Are you ready to shop till you drop?" Mulder asked in a hyper voice.

"Mulder I never seen you like this," said Scully.

"Well there are a lot of things that you have not seen," said Mulder in his normal voice.

'Did he just make a pass at me?' wondered Scully. 'Nah' she thought again.

"Well, I am off to 'Claire's'" said Jessy running off to her favorite store. Along the way she saw something out of the corner of her eye. "Cupid!!" she yelled and waved her arms. "Hey how have you been" she asked.

"Jessy!" said Cupid. "I have been fine, life is good on cloud nine," he said. "Well, and how is my best little angel," asked Cupid. "Oh doing good," said Jessy.

You see Jessy, was born on the 14th, the 14th of February and she was one of the few people that could see him. God hand-picked her himself to be one of the 'earth angels'. A well keep secret in her family.

"Well I have these two people..." said Jessy.

"And,??" Cupid asked.

"Well...? Walk with me," Jessy said while they walked down the mall. "I have my Aunt, Scully, and then her partner Mulder, he is a really nice guy-"

She was cut off by him saying, "-and you want my help to get them together, right?" Cupid asked.

"Well?...um...? Yes," she said with a sigh.

"Jessy I will be glad to help you," he said with a smile. How could he resist her bright blue eyes?

"Oh thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!" she said with a hug.

"You see this is what we do first..."

//Fade out//

"WOW, that is a nice one," said Mulder. "You know you are only her aunt, you don't have to buy this for her," he said.

"Oh but she reminds me of..." she trailed off and her eyes wandering down to the floor.

Mulder put his hand on her chin and lifted it up so she could meet his eyes, "Reminds you of who?" asked Mulder.

"Well...Melissa and Emily, both."

Mulder could see the tears in her eyes as they were going to flow over but he soon hugged her and they bought the dumb stereo.

"Well how are we going to hide this thing?" asked Mulder.

"They already gift wrapped it so I think that we should put it in the car," Scully told him.

"Good thinking G-woman" said Mulder. Scully just gave him 'the look.' They took it out to the car and re-entered the mall.

"Well your turn," said Scully.

"You mind helping me?" asked Mulder with his puppy dog face.

'Damn' it, he's doing the puppy face thingy' she thought. "Yes I will," Scully said out loud.

They went to the store 'Legends' next.

"Mulder!!" said Scully. Of course his choice was something Scully's big brother would never approve of.

"Well, she has always wanted one," said Mulder, almost breaking down and giving Scully his puppy dog face, again.

"All right, all right get it," said Scully with a sigh. They got the thing then left the store.

"Where to now?" asked Scully. He shrugged. "Let's go find Jess and grab some lunch, okay?" asked Scully.

"But I have to put this away in the car," said Mulder.

"O.K. I will go to the new 'Wood Fried Pizza' stand and we'll meet there," said Scully.

"See you then" as Mulder walked off.

They didn't realize that they were being watched.

"O.K. Cupid you see that man that walked away from my aunt?" asked Jessy, trying not to point.

"Yes," said Cupid.

"That's Mulder, and I know that Scully likes him but I need her to *express* her feelings for him. And of course he likes her too but I need him to express his feelings for her also. So can you do that?" asked Jessy with the puppy dog expression that she picked up from Mulder.

"Yes O.K." Cupid agreed. "They're going to sit down for lunch and that is when I will do it."

"Kay" said Jessy as she walked, or rather skipped, off to meet her aunt.

Mulder came back with Jessy and they sat down at the table and ordered and then just started to talk. "So Jessy do you have any particular sweetheart at school or anywhere?" asked Mulder.

Jessy just choked at his question and Scully gave him a weird look. "No not really," mumbled Jessy.

"Oh," Mulder said awkwardly.

"Well..." Scully said, trying to change the subject. "How is your sister Cassy?" she eventually asked.

"Oh she is fine, nothing has really happened," said Jessy looking around to try and find her angelic friend.

"So, how do all of the teachers at your school like you?" asked Scully.

"They probably think that you are an angel," Mulder said with a smile. "You know everyone thinks that girls are angels-"

"I am, just one that fell from heaven," she said with a smile larger than Mulder's.

Scully choked on her soda.

Jessy then spotted Cupid in a corner ready to shoot. He put the bright red arrow in the bow, aimed and then FIRED! BAM! It hit Mulder right on the back.

"OH, my," said Mulder trying to reach the spot where the arrow had just hit. "I think that I might have an itch," said Mulder, all of the sudden noticing Scully.

Then Cupid got another arrow and pulled it back and then, FIRED! BAM! It hit Scully in the back also.

"Oh gosh! What was that?" asked Scully also trying to reach the spot on her back, then noticing Mulder.

Jessy then gave Cupid two thumbs up then turned to Scully and Mulder. "Oh, look, here's our food," she said.

They ate and then after they went to the large fountain out in the middle of the mall. "So aren't you guys going to wish me a happy birthday?" Jessy gave them a puppy dog face.

"Oh, looks like she has been hanging around me too much," said Mulder whispering to Scully.

"Yes we are going to-" and as soon as Scully said that Mulder went out to the car and came back with two presents.

"Wow, thank you, thank you thank you!" said Jessy.

She opened the gift that Scully had given to her and she just gave Scully the biggest hug that she had ever given somebody.

Then Mulder brought over his gift for Jessy. She took it out of the bag and just screamed. "Thank you thank you thank you!" said Jessy hugging Mulder.

"You are very welcome," said Mulder.

Mulder had bought her the 'I Want to Believe' poster she has always wanted. Scully brought her to work one day and she just loved it.

"Well are you ready to go?" asked Scully. "Yes we are" said Mulder.

"Wait," said a small voice behind them said. "Would you picture perfect family like a photo to remember?" asked the small teenage boy.

Scully looked at Mulder and gave him no words, she did not have to. "Yes we would" said Mulder. They took the picture and then left the mall. Mulder would put this on his desk. But before they left Jessy went to say one thing to her friend.

"Hey guys, you go on ahead and I will catch up" said Jessy as she ran towards the teenage boy.

"Hey thanks a lot!" said Jessy. "Always glad to help," said Cupid.

"But," said Jessy. "They haven't done anything yet," said Jessy with a weird look on her face.

"Oh, don't worry Jessy, they will," he said with a smile as he disappeared out into thin air.

"Jessy, come on!" yelled Mulder.

"Coming!" Jessy called back.

They went back to Scully's apartment and Jessy sat down on the couch and turned on the TV to watch T.G.I.F. and Mulder and Scully went and sat down at the table and drank tea and coffee.

15 minutes later Jessy was asleep; even though she was 14, the day wore her out.

"Aww, she is so tired from today" said Scully. "Well I guess I should put her into my bed," said Scully about to wake her up.

"Why doesn't she sleep out here tonight?" asked Mulder with his puppy dog face as he gently grabbed Scully's arm.

Scully looked into his eyes and knew, she just knew.

That night she slept in Mulder's arms and said to Mulder, "You know she looked a lot like you when she gave me that puppy face."

Mulder leaned closer to Scully and said, "I guess that I have the effect on people" as he kissed her one more time before falling asleep in each other's arms.

Jessy was still on the couch wrapped in a blanket. She opened her eyes and she had a bright glow around her. She got up and eliminated the hallway with a bright glow.

Her wings behind her as she looked in Scully's room and how sweet they looked. Then she closed the door ever so quietly. She walked back and laid on the couch to wrap the blanket back around her. Then the small smile that teased her mouth earlier, finely was released. As she thought to herself what just one friend could do.
