Summary: Sequel to "An Answer to All Things," "More Questions," and "Is That Your Final Answer?"

Author's Notes: Well, I realize my last story jumped around a bit, but the only people saying they were confused were the people I made read it in school. Hope it made sense to everyone! This one is obviously the fourth in the series. Most likely, this won't make sense if you haven't read the three previous stories. Okay, and I don't want any comments about the fact that the pregnancy is off and that the wedding would be taking place outside in December...the whole thing was already written when I realized my mistake...so please, just deal with it.

"I won't let you go alone," Scully murmured into her partner's neck. She wrapped her arms around his neck even tighter and pulled him closer.

Mulder pulled back and searched Scully's face for help. "Who do you suggest?" he wondered, his right hand crawling up to settle along her jaw.

She sighed against his touch and let her eyes flutter shut for a moment. Suddenly, she pulled away and reached behind her neck to unclasp her gold cross necklace. Scully held it out to him. "I want you to take this."

He cocked his head to one side and frowned. "Scully, I can't. You never take it off. I couldn't take it from you."

She shook her head and wrapped the chain around his neck, the cross settling on his shirt collar. "As long as you have it, I know you'll be okay."

He managed a small smile and grasped her hand in his. Mulder squeezed it gently. "I promise you I'll be back. Nothing's going to happen in Oregon. Don't you worry about it."

Scully nodded hesitantly and looked down at her feet. "I know..." She muttered. "I know..."

Mulder used his free hand to lift his partner's chin up so her blue eyes met his. Tears glistened in the blue and she had to bite her lip to keep them from escaping. Mulder looked at her and leaned forward gently, tipping his head slightly in order for their lips to meet in the middle. "I won't leave you Scully. I love you too much." He murmured just before capturing her lips with his own. Scully sighed against Mulder's kiss.

It ended far too soon.

"I'll be back," he said, reaching out to touch her cheek once again. She turned and placed a soft kiss in his palm. Mulder pulled away and repeated his previous promise, almost in reassurance to himself. "I'll be back." He gave Scully one last glance before turning around and disappearing into the conference room.

Scully stood alone in the hallway.

Tears fell down Scully's face as she reached up to touch her cross necklace. It wasn't there. She sobbed quietly and let out a deep breath. There was a soft knock at the door.

"Come in," she said quietly, looking up expectantly, but not finding her mother standing in the doorway as she expected. "What are you doing here?" She spat, looking away.

Her brother Bill took a tentative step toward her bed. His face was sad and looked red and worn from crying. "I'm so sorry, Dana," Bill started. "I had no right to say any of that to you."

Slowly, she turned to look at him, surprised to find genuine guilt in his eyes. "No, you didn't," she responded.

He reached the edge of her bed and knelt down next to her. "I'm your big brother and I just want what's best for you," Bill started. "To me, what you're doing in the FBI and with Mulder isn't the best. But if it's what you want and it's what makes you happy, then I can't interfere."

Scully managed a small smile. "Thank you, Bill. And Mulder does make me happy. Unbelievably so. I love him more than anything."

Bill returned her smile. "Then I'm happy for you. As much as I it may seem like I don't like him or don't approve, I am happy." He kissed her on the forehead. "And by the way, congratulations." He nodded toward her stomach. "I'm glad that nothing went wrong and that everything's okay."

"Thank you Bill." Scully reached out and took his head in hers. "Thank you," she added quietly.

Scully sat and stared out the window. She could feel the tears begin to form, but she kept them from falling.

"Dana?" She heard her mother call out from behind the closed door. She spun around to see Maggie enter. "Dana...Kate was asking for you to come help with her hair." She explained, walking toward her daughter. Maggie say the unshed tears in Dana's eyes. "Honey, are you okay?"

Scully nodded, fighting hard to keep the tears inside. "I just really wish Mulder were here," she admitted, turning back to the window to view the festivities taking place out in the yard.

Her brothers, donning expensive tuxedos, were milling about near the make-shift altar, preparing for he start of the ceremony. She could tell that Charlie was nervous. Many of her family's old friends were beginning to gather. The tears were threatening to fall yet again.

"Dana, c'mon. Kate really would appreciate your help," Maggie urged, wrapping an arm around her daughter's shoulders. "Want to talk about it?"

Dana shrugged, starting for the door. "I always thought that the next time I'd see all these people would be at my own wedding." She sighed. "Not that I'm not happy for Charlie; I am. I'm just not really in the mood to be bombarded by millions of questions."

"Well, don't bring the subject up," Her mother suggested.

Dana gave her a glare as she reached to open the door. "Don't bring it up? How can I not? I look like a cow," she argued, spreading her arms to give her mother a view of her very round belly.

Scully's dress was a dark lavender with elbow-length sleeves and a scoop neck. The silky material fell gently over her eight-months pregnant stomach and then flared out and swirled around her ankles.

Her mother shook her head. "You are not fat. You are pregnant."

"There's not much difference," Dana objected, heading out the door toward the room where Kate was getting ready for the wedding.

The wedding had been wonderful. Kate's dress was floor length and had a full skirt with a train trailing four feet behind her. Her veil was elbow length and was held into place in her head by tiny pearl combs.

Dana had, of course, cried as she witnessed her little brother get married. It wasn't because she always cried at weddings or because of her over-sensitive emotions; all she could do was picture herself and Mulder in the same situation and it made her unbelievably upset.

After the ceremony, the guests milled about the lawn, eating, drinking and enjoying time spent with friends they had lost touch with. Dana seemed to stay alone, leaning back against the side of the house next to the sliding glass door.

She sighed heavily and watched as her brother and his new wife headed out to the make-shift dance floor for their first dance as a married couple. "Oh Mulder..." she whispered, trying her best not to start crying again.

As she rested there, she felt someone approach her from the side. Assuming it was her mother, she rolled her eyes. "Mom, I'm fine. Really."

Instead, a new voice responded to her comment. "Well that's a relief. I would have thought you'd go mad over looking for me."

Dana, unsure if she was imagining things or not, slowly turned around. Keeping her eyes lowered to the ground, she found a pair of feet donning tennis shoes waiting for her. Her eyes lifted up as she trailed them along the body of the man standing in front of her. Jeans...gray t- shirt...leather jacket...

"Mulder?!" She gasped, throwing her arms around him and sobbing. "Oh my god..."

Several of the wedding guests, including Maggie, Bill and Walter Skinner, turned to see what the fuss was about. Their reactions were similar to that of Scully's. They stood a good distance away, waiting for a sign that everything was okay.

Fox Mulder gently pulled away from his partner. "God Scully, has it been that long?" His eyes traveled down the length of her and stopped at her bulging stomach, noticing it for the first time. He jerked away. "I guess it has," he muttered, looking for a way to make his escape.

It took Dana a moment to realize what the problem was. "Mulder, no..." She grabbed his hand and placed it on her belly, just in time for him to feel the baby kick. "Mulder, I want you to meet your baby."

His eyes dawned in realization and he looked up at Scully, a smile spread across his face. "Scully...when? How...? Oh..."

She shook her head. "I don't know, Mulder. It was as much of a surprise to me as it was to you." Dana leaned forward and kissed him lightly on the lips. "Now, as for you...would you mind informing me as to where you were these past six months?"

With his arms wrapped around her waist, Mulder kissed her back. "It was incredible Scully. I knew everything, but at the same time knew nothing. Everything was happened to fast to be moving as slow as it was. It was unbelievable." He stopped suddenly and grinned. "Remind me to tell you about it sometime."

Scully laughed out loud and the others took that as a sign that everything was alright.

Maggie Scully timidly approached her daughter and her partner. "Fox, it's good to have you back..." She gave him a hug and a soft smile.

"Hey man, my congratulations," Bill greeted, surprising the hell out of Mulder with a hug.

"You really put us through hell," Skinner joked, trying not to let his emotions overcome him. "I'm glad you're alright."

Mulder nodded. "Thank you, Sir."

Most of the other wedding guests, including the bride and groom, introduced themselves and welcomed him back. But Mulder and Scully stole a moment away to themselves.

"I think you may want this back," Mulder said, wrapping Scully's gold chain around her neck and hooking it. "I never took it off."

Scully smiled, tears falling down her cheek. "Thank you Mulder..."

He grinned and kissed her softly. "I told you I'd be back," he murmured into her ear.

She shook her head, laughing, and playfully hit him on the arm. Kissing him again, she took his hand in hers and, together, they joined the festivities.
