Summary: A brother and a sister

"Samantha? Do you remember me?"

"Of course I do! You're my brother!"

"I've been looking for you for so long... It's not so easy to get here from there."

"I always used to think it was. For me it's like walking out to the backyard. But it must be harder than I thought. My dad -- my real one, I mean, my first one -- he still hasn't found me. And he's had years to try, hasn't he?"

"Maybe he gets lost easily."

"Maybe..."

"But what I wanted to say is, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry I didn't remember you. I knew that they messed with my head... I was so confused. I saw so many things that didn't fit together. My mom arguing with that bastard... the staring men in suits... and the abductions. Oh god, the whole time that I was denying that they ever happened, I was still dreaming about them at night, their dead faces and their mind-speaking voices... And it wasn't until I died that I knew for sure that the abductions never happened. And that's when I remembered you, too. I'm so sorry, Sam!"

"But it's not your fault!"

"You were the only sister I ever had. And I never remembered you, not one tiny piece of a memory, not even when everyone around me started talking about Samantha this, Samantha that. Mulder remembered. He's spent his life looking for you. And I mocked him for it. Sam, I didn't know. I promise... If I'd remembered, I would have done what he did. I would have searched for you forever. I promise."

"But we loved each other, didn't we? In that awful house, that year we were nine?"

"We did. I remember now, we did."

"That's all that counts. That's all that anyone can do. It's okay."

"Thanks, Sam. Thank you... Now I just wish there was something I could do for Mulder. I was never much help to him, even after I finally figured out what the hell was going on. A day late and a dollar short, from the day I was born..."

"I try to help him, too. I follow him around a lot, but he never sees me. He doesn't even look. Do you see him through there? Him and Scully. They shine really bright."

"Christ, they're like a pair of those huge-ass flashlights! Oh, uh, pardon my language. Yeah, they are bright."

"It's okay. Really. I *did* learn some swear words before I died, you know -- way worse than 'ass' and 'hell'."

"Sam, what happened after he kicked Mom and me out? Was it really bad for you? I mean, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to."

"It was bad. But it's over now. And I can be happy! 'All shall be well,' didn't anyone tell you?"

"Yeah, people keep telling me that here. But I'm a pessimist."

"You're still funny. And Jeffrey? I think you're probably a better person than you think you are. All your life your dad wanted you to be just like Fox, and then he killed you, and now he pretends that Fox is his son. But here you are, worrying about Fox."

"Yeah, well, it's easy to be good when you're dead."

"You only think that because you *are* good."

"Okay, okay. Maybe you're right. *Maybe*."

"Idiot."

"Spaz."

"Dork."

"I love you."

"I love you, too."
