Summary: The return of Mulder and Scully's son, William ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Dearest William, You must know that I have questioned the decision to let you go everyday for the past fifteen years. Your father and I wonder how your life has been. We are aware you will be turning sixteen next month and wish we could be by your side to celebrate it. The X-Files unit was successful in disclosing the Super Soldier project and stopping the Alien Colonization. Mulder took a chance and returned, but we still fear for you. The forces of evil are still out there watching and waiting for you, preventing your safe return to us. I know this letter will never reach you, for it is simply to put my mind at rest that I have tried my hardest to connect with you. Perhaps one day I will have the opportunity to give it to you in person. But until that day comes, you will always be kept inside my heart. Your loving mother, Dana ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Commonwealth of Wyoming Adoption Agency Buffalo, Wyoming late June, 2017 AD The sleek black Pontiac pulled into the parking space of the Commonwealth of Wyoming Adoption Agency. A tall, handsome brown- haired young man exited the vehicle and breathed a sigh of anxiety. Long had he sought to come here and learn the truth of his biological parents. He always knew he was different than the other kids at school. Several years back, William Van de Camp had begun to experience strange mental phenomenon. It started out with low-level telekinesis, but it quickly escalated to further abilities including mind control, telepathy, and future insight. He loved his special gifts, but it came with the cost of severe headaches. William had tried very hard to recall his infancy years with his real mother. All he could remember was that she had red hair and a beautiful smile. But that was so long ago. His foster parents, the Van de Camps, had raised him almost his whole life that he could remember. But when they perished in a car accident the previous year, William was sent to live in a foster home. He quickly grew to hate his new surroundings, which prompted his arrival at the adoption agency at this very moment. The receptionist was helpful and quickly had him seated with a specialist. "I'm sorry William, but I'm not allowed to reveal your parents' identities to you. Only once you turn eighteen can we tell you." "But I can't wait that long. I need to know now. Look, my foster parents died last year. I just turned sixteen, bought a junkie car, and I need to find my real parents." William could read the specialist's mind, and that his speech had fallen upon deaf ears. He had to take matters further to get the answers he was seeking. William concentrated very hard and used his gift of mind control on the lady's weak mind. It worked very similar to the Jedi Mind Trick he had seen in Star Wars. "Ma'am, tell me about my real parents?" William asked quietly, but firmly. "Their names are Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, they live in Maryland. Your father is an FBI agent, worked on a unit called the X-Files for a long time. And your mother was his partner for a long time, but she eventually became a neurologist. They've been married for almost fifteen years but have had no other children." "X-Files? Guess I'll have to check out what those are. Could you print out all that information for me? Thank you so much for your help." William was satisfied with his informative session. After obtaining the address, he left the office and hopped in his car, eager for the long trip to the east coast. The female specialist had no memory of William's intrusion into her mind. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* FBI Headquarters Washington, DC early July, 2017 AD William found getting into the Hoover Building of the Federal Bureau of Investigation much easier than he could imagine. Mind control had many advantages. He was extremely nervous about meeting his real father. Instead of meeting him face-to-face, William wanted to learn more about the X-Files that he had learned about back in Wyoming. The elevator doors slid open with a metallic clang, and he proceeded down the hallway to the X-Files office door with the nameplates of John Doggett and Monica Reyes. He opened the door without knocking and observed a middle-aged dark-haired woman typing a report. William decided to put the mental control on her as well. "Hi there, you must be Monica Reyes. This is a really nice office. What do you do here?" "We investigate paranormal phenomena, like alien encounters and military conspiracies. We even stopped the largest plot for alien colonization over five years ago." "I had no idea the FBI was even interested in that kind of stuff. What can you tell me about Fox Mulder?" he asked the hypnotized female agent. "Mulder found the X-Files back in 1989. He and his wife, I mean partner, Scully uncovered the global alien conspiracy. They gave so much of their life to the search for the truth that they had to give away their only child for his safety. Scully left the FBI to be a neurologist and Mulder transferred to the Violent Crimes unit as head profiler." "Can you tell me more about Mulder and Scully's child?" William asked with a gulp. "I have an entire X-File devoted to William Scully. Let me get it for you" Monica stated blankly while walking to the metal filing cabinet. It didn't take long to find William's file. He flipped through the first through documents, but quickly slapped the folder shut. In his mind's eye, he could see a tall intimidating man entering the office in the near future. William thanked Monica for her help and exited the X-Files office and hid in the corridor. John Doggett appeared shortly afterward and entered the office. When he felt the coast was clear, William slipped back to the elevator and took it to the fourth floor. Back in the X-Files office, Doggett found Reyes kneeling next to the cabinet, her eyes lost in space. He paced around her in a semicircle and observed her odd behavior. He eventually snapped his fingers and she woke out her trance. "John. Oh man, that was weird. Last thing I remember doing was typing up that report." "Did you perhaps get a file out of the cabinet for reference?" he asked inquisitively while sipping from his fresh cup of coffee. Monica examined the open drawer in the cabinet and was shocked to find one file missing. "John, the file is missing, the one with Mulder and Scully's child." "Are you kidding? What happened to you while I was gone?" "I have no idea. I can't remember the last ten minutes" Monica stated in a worried manner. "Let's call Mulder and warn him to keep his eyes open for anything suspicious." Meanwhile on the fourth floor, William examined the room names as he searched for the violent crimes section. He found it at the end of the hall and entered the large room. It contained many agents scrambling between desks, talking on phones, and examining crime scene photographs. William walked slowly down the first row looking at the names and faces of the busy agents. Agent Mulder heard the annoying ring of his telephone ring which roused him from his state of deep concentration. His profiling skills were still sharp, and he found the connections between homicides and the criminal mentality very accurately. He answered the phone with the usual brief greeting of "Mulder." "Mulder, its John Doggett. We think somebody has taken your son's X-File from the office. Have you noticed anything suspicious in the past ten minutes or so?" Mulder gave a half of a laugh at the notion of Doggett being paranoid. He swiveled in his chair and propped his head back to relax his strained muscles. He nearly dropped the phone upon seeing the brown-haired teenager standing ten feet in front of him holding an X-file. He knew in an instant that his long-lost son had returned. The joy and fear of seeing William once again made Mulder's heart stand still. Fifteen years is a long time. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Residence of Mulder and Scully Georgetown, Maryland early July, 2017 AD Mulder stopped the car in front of he and Scully's beautiful two- story home with a picket fence. William sat in the passenger seat, stunned at hearing the stories told by his father. They dealt with the issues that Scully had to deal with so long ago, concerning his safety. In just his first year as a baby, William had almost been smothered to death, kidnapped by a UFO cult, and injected by a syringe. Father and son looked at each other, uncertain of how Dana would take the news of William's return. Once inside the house, Mulder called out for Scully. "I'm in the kitchen, Fox. Did you work late today?" she replied back. "Kind of. I brought somebody with me that you haven't seen in a long time" Mulder answered back. Dana came around the corner holding a recipe book, and glanced upward at Mulder and his teenage companion. She froze immediately and dropped the book, and managed to stumble out the words she thought she'd never say. "William, oh my god, is that you?" said Dana with tears in her eyes. William nodded his head to answer. They rushed to an embrace between a sorrowful mother and her long-lost child. Mulder smiled deeply upon seeing her happiness and joined in the long overdue family hug. They enjoyed a delicious meat loaf with mashed potatoes for dinner as William told them stories of his life back in Wyoming. About halfway through the meal, Mulder asked Scully to pass the salt. However, William touched her hang to stop her. "Allow me" he stated with a smirk. He focused his mind on the shaker and made it slide across the table to his father. Both parents looked at him in astonishment and wonder. "William, how'd you do that? I thought you lost your powers after that injection long ago." "I don't know. It started up a few years ago. Pretty cool, huh." "You have no idea how much you scared me with your mobile as a baby. How many other people know about your power?" "Nobody. I didn't even tell my foster parents. I had to learn the truth about where I came from first. That's why I sought you out. I had to mind-trick the adoption lady into telling me your location. Then I picked up my X-File from Miss Reyes the same way. Guess what, I can even see things before they happen too." "You must have gotten it from me. I had that power once, but it nearly killed my brain. Do you have any problems?" Mulder asked reluctantly. "Just a headache afterwards. Nothing I can't handle" William replied with a grin. "In any case, I'm taking you to the hospital with me tomorrow. I want to make sure you're okay" stated Dana after finishing off her last bite. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Georgetown Medical Center Georgetown, Maryland early July, 2017 AD "Amazing. Simply amazing. Your brain is so active, its unimaginable. I haven't seen this since your father's manifestation" Scully remarked while admiring the MRI scans of William's brain. "That's great, but am I going to be okay?" "I don't see why not. I don't see any physical abnormalities. Your brain has so many connections that you are able to use your powers effectively. My guess is that the magnetite that you were injected with as a baby helped your brain make the transformation smoothly." "Mom, I've read my X-File cover-to-cover. Do you still wonder about my birth, like was it a miracle or science?" William asked the question that had plagued him for so long. "A miracle. I have no doubts anymore" Scully answered with confidence. Little did she realize that their entire conversation had been recorded on videotape. A bald man watched a monitor screen from the secrecy of his hideout elsewhere in the hospital. He thought to himself about Scully's naiveté concerning the matter. Little did she know that William was a lifelong project of the Conspirators. His return to Washington DC was perfect for the continuation of the alien colonization project. It was time to remobilize the old project and restart the countdown clock. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Residence of Mulder and Scully Georgetown, Maryland late November, 2017 AD The doorbell rang on the residence of Mulder and Scully's two- story home. After getting married, they had decided to keep their last names to themselves. Even funnier, they still sometimes referred to each other by their surnames. They left the decision to William on which surname he would want. Scully was happy when he chose her last name. There was so much to celebrate in 2017. During the fall, Doggett and Reyes had gone to Las Vegas to check out a ritualistic murder. Halfway through the investigation, John had dared Monica for marriage if he solved the case. To his surprise, his lame theory proved to be true, and she didn't let him back out of his dare. Since this was the happiest Thanksgiving for the couple ever, they decided to invite all of their friends from work to the table. Doggett, Reyes, and former Assistant Director Skinner arrived for the highly anticipated event. They were all glad to see each other again, and most of all young William. After enjoying a delicious turkey dinner, they retired to the lounge area for entertaining conversation. William was the center of the attention of course. He knew all of the people in the room knew his secret, but they had never seen it demonstrated before. "Mom, can I have a beer?" William yelled to Scully while she gathered snacks in the kitchen. "No William. You aren't old enough yet" she gave her typical motherly response. William gave the guests a wink about what was to come. "Mom, can I have a beer?" William tried again as he concentrated in his mind's eye. "Okay. What kind do you want?" she replied while in her entranced state. The group broke out laughing at William's special mind control ability. He decided to try his next ability, seeing the immediate future. "Hey, check this one out, John's about to spill wine on his pants" William remarked aloud. Agent Doggett sat up in a bolt upon hearing his name being mentioned next. But in the process of sitting forward, his wine glass got bumped and poured the fruity contents on his lap. The group laughed even harder at the antics going on. Scully appeared in the doorway holding a tray full of snacks, napkins, and William's beer. One of the napkins suddenly started floating off the tray telekinetically and over to John. He snatched it quickly and kept his eyes down to avoid the embarrassment in front of his friends. "Don't feel embarrassed John. Monica is thinking of how much fun it'll be to get the stain out" William finished up his charade on the crowd. Monica's face turned as red as her wine upon hearing William reading her dirty thoughts. Skinner nudged Mulder in the side and pulled him in for a low-level conversation. "Mulder, are you worried about his secret getting out? What if they are still looking for him?" "Scully and I are both concerned for his safety. We're not going to make him hide it, nor will we let him use it openly. Perhaps one day his power could be used for good. William's already expressed an interest in following his mother's footsteps. He wants to be start studying to be a neurologist. He even goes to work with her one day a week as an understudy." "I just want the best for William. We all do" Skinner concluded his conversation with Mulder and sipped at his wine, carefully. They both looked over at the miracle child, drinking the beer Scully had given him moments earlier. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Georgetown Medical Center Georgetown, Maryland early April, 2019 AD Two years passed by, and the graduation of William from high school was quickly approaching. He had already been accepted to American University for the fall semester and was eager to start his official studies in pre-med. However, this particular month would prove to be the beginning of the next stage of his life: love. Scully and William were in the lounge reviewing MRI scans of malignant brain tumors when one of their fellow associates came to their table. He presented them with a recent patient of his, a young girl with a most unusual brain abnormality. Stumped by the dilemma, the associate had hoped that Dr. Scully would be able to shed some light on the girl's condition. "Oh my god, who is this girl? Her brain abnormality is unimaginable. It's similar to Mulder's condition twenty years ago" Scully remarked in amazement. "Her name is Joy. Room 469. I'd really like you to treat her condition. It sounds like you have experience with this phenomenon" the associate begged of Dr. Scully. She eagerly obliged his request and put the MRI scans in their folder. Scully and William exited the lounge and proceeded to the girl's hospital room. Once inside the room, they observed a middle-aged woman sitting next to her distressed daughter, lying in pain on the hospital bed. The woman's eyes were red with sadness upon seeing her Joy's condition. She had short, brunette cropped hair and was surprised to see Dr. Scully when she entered the room. "Dana? Is that you?" asked the mysterious woman. "Patti? Oh my god, I had no idea. How are you? It's been twenty years" said Scully in delight upon seeing the friend she had made long ago. The ladies embraced and exchanged friendly conversation. William came around to the side of the girl's bed to observe her condition. He was stunned to see how beautiful the girl was. She had shoulder-length brunette hair and brown eyes. But what he was most attracted to were her cute dimples which outlined the edges of her cheeks. But for all her beauty, the look of sadness from the pain in her head quickly negated her happiness. She lay there helpless to the disease of her brain. William checked the chart at her side for her symptoms. They included severe migraine headaches, which were a result of severe swelling of her active brain. In essence, she had very similar brain patterns as William had. He knew immediately how to diagnose her condition. "Mom, she needs that special magnetite, the one that helped me long ago." Dana and Patti stopped their conversation in mid-sentence upon hearing William's theory. Scully moved to his side and read the chart as well. She nodded in agreement with William and explained to Patti the condition of her daughter. The two women had met twenty years earlier when they suspected their children had been manipulated by a covert military project. "Ma'am, does Joy still have special gifts, like moving objects and reading minds?" William asked his mother's distressed friend. "Yes, she does. She has trouble controlling it a lot of times. Her condition has been getting worst every year since she hit puberty. She suffers from severe migraines, and now I fear she may die if it's not treated soon. Wait a second, are you William?" "Yes, I am. I returned back two years ago. I suffer from some of the same ailments as she does, but to a much lesser degree. I was injected with magnetite as a baby, which helped control the development of my mental abilities." Patti came over to William and stroked his brown hair. She smiled upon last seeing him as a hairless baby. After hearing of Scully's decision to put William for adoption, she was heart- broken to imagine Joy in the same predicament. Suddenly, Joy screamed and her body arched in agony from the pain of her brain abnormality. "Mom, how long until we can get a syringe of magnetite for her?" asked the concerned William. "It'd probably take a week. There's not much we can do in the meantime, I'm afraid." "Maybe not. Let me try something I've been wanting to try" William offered a suggestion. The ladies obliged his request and watched as the young man placed his hands on the young girl's temples. He concentrated very hard on the region of her brain causing the pain. The tiny region was telekinetically made to vibrate very fast, and then relaxed when it was over. William released his grasp on the girl's face and could see in her eyes how gracious she was. "Thank you, William. I feel much better now" she reached up and touched his face at the same time. Dana cried a tear upon seeing the touching moment. "What happened?" Patti asked eagerly of William. "I gave her a 'brain tickle'. It's something I've been playing with for awhile now. I basically relaxed her brain and released the pressure. She should feel fine until the magnetite arrives." "Thank you so much for your help, William. You really are a miracle child." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Georgetown Medical Center Georgetown, Maryland late April, 2019 AD William and Joy walked outside the hospital in the beautifully blooming gardens. They had grown quite close over the past few weeks, sharing experiences of their powers and how they had overcome the painful lifestyles of hiding their secrets. Joy felt so relaxed with William and found him very attractive. They shared their first kiss in an arboretum, followed by a second and third. They snuggled afterwards in the sunlight of the spring season. "William, I have some good news for you." "What is it?" "I got accepted to American University" she smiled to him. He congratulated her and kissed her on the cheek. She giggled lightly and grasped William by the hand. They both knew that they were meant to be together, forever. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* American University Dormitory Washington, DC late September, 2019 AD One month into their first semester at college, William and Joy were madly in love. They hung out as much as humanly possible on campus in between classes. However, as midterms rolled around, Joy found herself spending less time with William and more time being swamped in endless studying. Her headaches became unbearable on one late night, and she felt like screaming out loud after four straight hours. Joy touched her temples to concentrate, and telepathically contacted William six floors below. "William, I need help. Come quick" she was able to communicate softly. "I'm on my way, Joy." William avoided the slow-moving elevators and raced up the stairs to her. He swung the door open in haste and was surprised to find her on the verge of collapsing as she walked. He caught his love and guided her to the bed and propped her up with his strong arms. She mumbled something smiling, simply happy to have William hold her so. A special 'brain tickle' from William eased Joy's headache and put her in a state of nirvana. He rubbed her face and stroked her hair afterward, to which she moaned inwardly. Joy pulled William in closer and kissed him very passionately. Her hands next traveled to his to his torso and she removed his t-shirt. She twirled his chest hairs to be funny, and then proceeded with helping William disrobe herself. This was the first time for the both of them. There was so much passion between them that it simply felt natural. After that night, hardly a night passed by that they didn't sleep with each other. Just to have the comfort of another body you trust entirely right next to you gave them the strength and confidence to accomplish anything. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* FBI Headquarters Washington, DC early October, 2017 AD The bald headed man stood in the early streams of the morning sunlight, a toothpick dangling from his lips. He had long wondered when the time would come for his race of alien replicants to retake the earth. December 26th, 2012 was to be the date of the final colonization. However, the alien takeover failed as a result of the X-Files unit. Luckily, the Toothpick Man's underground Syndicate had instead remained dormant while using a more secretive approach to re-colonizing the earth with the alien race. For the past twenty years, his consortium had been testing new methods of spontaneously repopulating the earth using water to infect the human population. Much of the original work had been destroyed on a boat in Baltimore's dock long ago, but recently new breakthroughs in medical technology had made it possible to spread the alien virus through the chloramine in regular drinking water. However, nearly all of the human test subjects had been killed during an alien raid twenty years earlier, destroying much of the research on the effects of the alien virus on humans. That is the reason that the reintroduction of William back into society had prompted his interest. Young William had been one of only a few handfuls of original test subjects to escape persecution. The door to the Toothpick Man's office opened and in stepped two fellow conspirators in the project. The first was a regular human in his sixties, named Dr. Scanlon. He was the oldest member of the Syndicate whose expertise with human/alien experimentation proved valuable to the alien collaborators. Scanlon cared nothing for the human race, and was promised immunity by the alien replicants in exchange for his loyalty to their cause. The second man to follow in was a former US marine named Craven. Also human, Craven knew nothing of the plans for an alien takeover. Craven only cared for his large paychecks for dirty work and followed orders from the bald Toothpick Man. He never asked questions why. "Gentlemen, good morning. Have a seat, we have a lot to discuss" stated the Toothpick Man. "Yes we do. I'm sure you both read the memo concerning two of our previous test subjects, William Scully and Joy Andrews. We've been monitoring their activity together for the past six months. I finally have good news to report. They're having sex now, quite often I might add" Scanlon detailed the observations his group had been making. "Method of protection?" asked Craven curiously. "The pill." "Excellent news, Scanlon. Time to initiate Phase II - Procreation. This is where you come into play Craven. I want you to sneak into Joy's dorm room and switch her pills for fake ones. Pregnancy should kick in within a few months, thus starting the Chloramine Countdown." "Aye, sir. I'll pull the switch tomorrow afternoon while they're at class" Craven concluded. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Georgetown Medical Center Georgetown, Maryland late October, 2017 AD "Oh my god! Are you sure, Mrs. Scully? I can't be pregnant! " Joy exclaimed in disbelief. "I think you can call me Dana now. Looks like you'll be having my grandson" Dana said with a big smile. She knew William was the father, simply by the way him and Joy behaved so lovingly toward to each other. It didn't bother her one bit that they were only 18. It actually think back to her youth and how she had turned down motherhood for so long it had almost been too late. She thanked God for the one opportunity to have a child. "What am I going to tell William?" Joy covered her face in embarrassment. "Tell him the truth. I know my son, he'll understand." "Is there like an easy way to tell him? You know, to soften the blow." "How about a picnic in a park or something? That's how Fox proposed to me. It was such a beautiful day, that I couldn't say no." "That sounds like a great idea, Mrs., uh, I mean Dana. I'll start planning right now" Joy jumped off the examination table and hugged her soon-to-be-mother-in-law. She ran off down the hall with a big smile and took the elevator down to her car. Scully stayed behind to clean up the room a tad before leaving. She still had no idea that her life was still being covertly videotaped. Dr. Scanlon sat on the other end watching the whole conversation between Joy and Dana. Everything was set for Phase II. He pulled out his cellular phone and called his fellow cohorts. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Shenandoah National Forest Western Virginia late October, 2017 AD Joy pulled the oversize blanket from its place in picnic basket. She snapped the large cushion open in the air and let it settle gently on the soft grass. William stood back and watched her as she eagerly unpacked the lunch she had prepared earlier for him. He laughed to himself wondering what the occasion was. She had been acting peculiar, but in a happy sort of way. "Okay, William. I made us ring bologna sandwiches, macaroni salad, sweet pickles. Oh, and I didn't forget the cheese curls either. I even brought a bottle of wine for us to drink." "You're killin' me Joy, what's the occasion?" William asked impatiently. Joy figured she might as well tell him now. They were in the middle of a field surrounded on all sides by forests. At least he couldn't run away in case he got scared. So Joy mustered up all her strength and told William the news of her surprising pregnancy. William froze upon hearing the shocking news, totally unprepared by its enormity. He was going to be a father. William went over to Joy and gave her a gracious hug and kiss on the lips. They ignored the lunch and decided to lay on the picnic blanket cuddled in a fetal position. They napped in the sunshine for the next hour or two, not aware of the man spying on them. Craven removed the binoculars from his eyes, ready to move in for the hunt. He stepped out from behind the trunk of giant oak tree at the end of field. With his tranquilizer rifle slung around his shoulder, Craven stepped cautiously as he maneuvered through the tall growth. Suddenly, William bolted out of his slumber, waking the beauty next to his side. Craven ducked down fast to avoid detection. "Joy, get up. I think we're in danger. And my senses don't lie, either" William commanded. Joy pulled her sandals up her feet and got onto her knees next to William, whose eyes scanned the perimeter for a glimpse of the intruder. "William, I'm scared. What is it?" Joy whispered frantically. "There's a man with a gun not too far away. Joy, I need you to run as fast as you can. I'll draw his fire so you can get help." "I'm not going to leave you, William." "I'll be alright. Just go. Now." Joy kissed the man she loved more than life itself on the lips before spinning on her heels in the opposite direction. The tall grasses flapped wildly, quickly concealing her as she ran full speed. Craven saw the movement and followed in hot pursuit. He quickly reached their deserted picnic blanket and stepped through the remains of their romantic lunch. Suddenly the blanket came to life, wrapping its thick linens around his feet like tentacles. Craven fell forward hard, his rifle still tightly in his hands. The fall knocked the wind out of him temporarily as he strained to roll onto his back. From the corner of his eye, Craven spotted the boy William hiding in the tall grass nearby, using his mental powers of telekinesis. Suddenly the blanket lunged upward at an amazing speed, dragging Craven into the branches of the tree the couple had lunched under. His rifle fell from his hands and lay on the ground right below him. The branches scratched his body and bruised his skin upon impact. Somehow the blanket hung there, with him upside- down and trapped. William stood up from his hiding spot and approached the man, intent on learning the truth. He telekinetically picked up a rock, ready to hurl the object to torture the man. Craven had only one chance to survive, he reached inside his Kevlar vest and pulled out his hunting knife. He reached up and sliced through the tightly-wrapped blanket. He struck his leg in the incident, but managed to free himself with a long hard fall to the ground. William tossed the rock as soon as Craven pulled the knife, but missed his target. Craven quickly recovered his senses and picked up the rifle at his side. He pointed the weapon right at William and pulled the trigger, not even bothering to line up the shot. William tried to dodge the shot, but was struck in the shoulder by a dart. The toxins of the dart quickly overpowered William, sending him into unconsciousness. Craven tore a shard of the blanket off and wrapped it around his wounded leg. His blood was over the ground, spilled amongst the grass and Tupperware. He reached into his pocket and removed his walkie-talkie. "It's Craven. I captured the boy, but the girl got away. Request instructions on how to proceed." The voice on the other end was not pleased with Craven's poor performance. It was supposed to be a simple job. The Toothpick Man made a quick decision. "Bring the boy in. He still may be useful to us alive." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* It was near twilight around the region where the tragic picnic had occurred. Dozens of FBI agents scoured the perimeter for clues to a lead. However, the only true evidence rested in the area of the attack itself. A ripped blanket was oddly snagged in a tree, which was the intent of Mulder's personal investigation. "No trace of any vehicles near the roads or parking lots. The locals don't recall seeing anything either, Mulder. Guess we're on our own on this investigation" said A.D. Skinner. "Maybe not, sir. I think William subdued his captor in this blanket for a short time. The felon then escaped by knifing through the fabric. He probably stabbed himself in the leg in the process too. I found some dried blood on the grass right beneath it." "I think Mulder's right, sir. I found a spot in the grass about ten yards away where William probably fell down. I found a tranquilizer dart there too. I'm figuring the bad guy fell from the blanket and shot William where he was hiding" Doggett concluded as he joined his companions. "Well, I can have a DNA analysis run on the blood, but without a target to match it to, its going to be hard to get to the bottom of this." "Sir, whoever hurt himself here probably had to get their leg stitched up. Scully can compile a list of names of recent leg stabs in the area for us to start researching." "Good thinking, Mulder. You have all the FBI resources at your disposal. The DNA analysis should be done in the morning. I'll call you when I have more information. In the meantime, you and Scully should go home and try to get some sleep" Skinner directed the tired agent. Doggett and Mulder walked side-by-side to the group of women at the edge of the field. Joy was hugging her mother with tears in her eyes as Scully and Reyes pondered theories. "Why strike now? Why not just take William when he first returned?" Reyes questioned. "Wait a second... the pregnancy. I'm betting you they were after Joy and her baby. When they realized she had escaped, they took William as the next best thing. I'm sure of it!" Scully exclaimed from experience. During her own pregnancy eighteen years ago, the forces of evil laid out an elaborate plan to snatch away another woman's alien baby. She now feared for Joy's pregnancy, and for the sake of her son William. She prayed to God that he was okay. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Craven's residence Washington D.C. late October, 2017 AD Craven's leg ached him every time he took a step. It had been 48 hours since he had abducted William. After turning the boy over to the Toothpick Man, Craven immediately had his leg worked on. They gave him crutches to help him walk, but the pain was still there. The injured kidnapper hobbled into the dark kitchen and flitted his hand against the inner wall for the light switch. To his surprise, somebody else flicked it on for him. Skinner and Doggett stood on both sides of the kitchen entrance with their guns pointed straight at Craven's head. Mulder sat quietly at the kitchen table, before getting up to interrogate the odious man who had kidnapped his son. "Where did you take my son?" Mulder asked only once. "Go to hell!" Craven answered impulsively. Mulder dashed at the man and landed a hard jab to the face, reeling him back into the hallway. Mulder straddled the fallen man and flipped him onto his back. He shoved a small pistol against Craven's throat. Doggett and Skinner looked at each other, wondering if they should interfere in the process. "You can't do this! You're FBI! I was only following orders!" Craven exclaimed. "It was really nice of you to leave that patch of blood in the field. It led us right to you Craven. Now, take some god-damn responsibility. Tell me where my son is!" Mulder yelled again, but this time clicked the gun to load the bullet chamber. "Fox, wait. Let me try my weapon first" said Joy as she entered through the front door. Skinner and Doggett helped Mulder hold down Craven's writhing body. Joy knelt down next man's head and placed her palms upon his forehead. She closed her eyes and patiently let her mental powers work for her. She could hear the man's thoughts echoing in her mind. Craven couldn't keep William's location a secret from her. "I got it. I know who has William and where" Joy opened her eyes and told the men. Mulder escorted Joy outside to talk it over with her. Meanwhile, Skinner and Doggett flipped Craven to his back and strapped handcuffs to his wrists. Suddenly, they heard Mulder's car start up and pull out. Mulder and Joy were going to save William without their help. Feeling upset about being left behind, they took their aggression out on Craven as they got him to his feet. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Bethesda Naval Base Baltimore, Maryland late October, 2017 AD Joy felt nothing but fear as she and Mulder pulled up to the guardhouse at the Bethesda Naval Base. The brave teenager knew that only she had the power to save her future child's father. She took a deep breath and concentrated as Mulder talked to the guard at the gate from their car. "State your name and business, sir" the young cadet ordered. "Fox Mulder with the FBI. We're here to meet with Dr. Scanlon." "I'm sorry, but you'll need to have clearrr...." the guard stumbled his sentence. Joy was focusing all her mental abilities on the guard. William had been teaching her how to utilize the potential of mind control. She breathed a sigh of relief when the guard pulled away from the car and pushed the button to lift the gate. Mulder chuckled to himself about Joy's saavy maneuver. The duo drove through the massive naval campus until they came to the Biogenics Building. When they entered the building, Joy pulled the exact same mind control maneuver on that guard as well. Even more impressive was the fact that when she asked for the guard's security card key, he gave it to her plus included directions to Dr. Scanlon's research room. "Are you ready, Joy?" Mulder asked as he pulled out his pistol again. "Let's do it" she replied with confidence as she swiped the card key. The metal doors swung inwards, revealing the astonishing research room of Dr. Scanlon. The walls were lined with jars of human and inhuman embryos. Mulder was shocked to rediscover the atrocious sight again. The conspiracy hadn't changed even eighteen years later. Joy gasped as she looked to her left and found her near-naked lover floating unconscious in a vessel of warm water. An oxygen mask strapped to his face let up some bubbles, signaling to her that William was alive. Joy dashed over to the glass and began beating on it and crying. It hurt her so much to see him treated like this. Suddenly, she felt a voice in her mind. William may have been physically unconscious, but not mentally. She smiled as a tear ran down her cheek. Suddenly, Dr. Scanlon entered from the door across the hall and gasped to find the two intruders. Mulder ran over to the evil doctor and threw him against the wall. The shelves shook violently, breaking several jars as they fell. Joy watched in horror at the evil man. Mulder made Scanlon spread his arms and legs to arrest the man when suddenly he spoke in an odd manner. "You know Mulder, you should be proud of your son. He is going to lead the alien colonists back to glory. His genetic makeup will help us re-establish the program." "What are talking about? The alien colonization effort failed 5 years ago. Doggett and Reyes destroyed the remaining alien replicants." "Not all!" Scanlon screamed out loud in a deep voice. The doctor spun around strong and fast, smashing an empty jar against Mulder's forehead. Mulder fell back against a table, but managed to keep holding his weapon. He fired six shots into Scanlon's chest, put they had no effect. Scanlon was an alien replicant. They were virtually indestructible! Scanlon gave a strong punch to Mulder's jaw, knocking the senses out of him. The impervious doctor pulled Mulder's body from the table onto his shoulder. Scanlon now approached the second intruder, Joy. He used Mulder's limp body as a projectile, and hurled him at Joy. She ducked in time to avoid the huge hit. Mulder crashed through the glass casing surrounding William. Hundreds of gallons of water spewed from the tank, causing the semi-conscious William to collapse to the ground next to his father. Joy screamed through all the commotion and torrential drenching. Scanlon hovered over the innocent child and bent down to pick her up gently. She was going to be the mother of the next alien colonization with the special child inside. Joy punched and kicked to resist being taken. It was no use, Scanlon was impervious to pain. Suddenly William rose from the floor, drenched with heavy water and pure hatred. The teenage boy clasped his hands around the back of Scanlon's neck. Releasing a scream of intense manifestation, William focused all his mental abilities to the one weak spot on Scanlon. His metallic vertebrate! The vertebrate inside Scanlon's spine shattered from the extraordinary telekinetic powers. The evil doctor died immediately and fell to the ground. William breathed in heavy gasps as he knelt down to cuddle his lover. They hugged very tightly and stood up slowly. It was finally over! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Georgetown Medical Center Georgetown, Maryland early November, 2017 AD Doctor Scully walked into the hospital room of her two best patients. She had a big smile on her face as she opened the blinds on the windows around the two men. They both moaned upon being woken up so early in the morning. "Rise and shine sleepy-heads. You have company." William blinked rapidly and looked over at his father. Mulder had been banged up pretty bad from the fight, but would survive. In fact, Mulder had a big grin on his face as Dr. Scully leaned over him and blew bubbles on his neck. They were happy as could be. Joy came in next and kissed William and stroked his messed-up hair. Her mother Patti walked in next, arm-in-arm with Walter Skinner. Finally Doggett and Reyes entered the crowded hospital room. The whole gang was together again. They celebrated jovially the rest of the day with a big party back at the Mulder and Scully's home. The threat of aliens and conspiracies never resurfaced. It was finally over. THE END
