My second attempt at fan fiction. I really love feedback so e-mail me now! Even flames are appreciated, I use them as bedding for my guinea pig. THIS IS NOT AN ANGSTY STORY, like my last one was supposed to be. You want to read a tear-jerker, check out "All the Little Pieces She Left". Thanks to Alison for helping me with this one. This story is really short, and serves as just a starting off block for the rest of the series. Enough with the credits, on to the story! ************************************************************************ Part 1- The Birth "Come on, Dana! Push, push!" Fox exclaimed, tightly gripping Dana's wrist. Dana turned her tortured face to him. "What do you think I'm doing?! I am pushing!" she yelled back through clenched teeth. "And stop squeezing my wrist! What are you trying to do, cut off my circulation?!" Fox raised his arms in mock surrender and backed off. Dana threw her head back and screamed as a larger, more painful contraction gripped her. "Dana!" the doctor said. "I can see it's head! Yes, that's it. Here comes the head!" gushed the doctor. Fox rushed over and stared wide-eyed as his child entered the world. Everything around him seemed to fade. The nurses around him, the room, the doctor all faded. All he saw was the baby, his child, that would change his life forever. he was a father now. "Dana! It's a girl!" the doctor exclaimed, bringing Fox back to reality. "It's a girl. You have a little daughter! Dana started to sob happy tears Fox stared down at his daughter. He could just make out a small swirl of brown hair on top of her head before his daughter began to wail. The doctor handed the baby to him, and the baby promptly stopped crying. The baby raised a little arm and, miraculously, her eyes opened. Green eyes blinked at Fox as he cradled his newborn daughter. "Welcome to the world, Melissa Samantha Mulder," Fox whispered to her before handing her over to Dana. *******************************The End********************************** Well, I told you it was short! So what did you think? Did you like it? Did you hate it? I know there was some technicalities here, such as Melissa's eyes opening almost immediately, but what the hell? Its fan FICTION, after all! Look out for Eminent Domain, Part 2- Melissa. ************************************************************************ Title: Eminent Domain, Part 2 -Melissa Author: Christine L. ************************************************************************ "Melissa!" Dana yelled as she peeked out the door and noticed her one-year old daughter tottering towards the street. Melissa looked back up at the apartment with innocent green eyes and smiled a two-tooth smile. Dana hurriedly opened the door, raced down the walkway steps to her daughter and brought her away from the street. She picked her up and sat down on the steps with Melissa on her lap. "What am I going to do with you, Missy?" Dana muttered, smoothing back the wisps of brown hair on Melissa's head. Missy was already playing in the dirt. This had become routine for them. A little before she and Fox had married, she had quit her job with the FBI. and got a less demanding job as a part-time doctor. She didn't have to return for work for about another three months and was actually looking foward to it. Missy was going to stay with her grandmother for the mornings while Dana was at work. Melissa had finally grown bored with the dirt and was now tottering around on the small lawn of the apartment. Soon, the Mulder family was going to move to a nice, big house closer to Dana's mom where Fox could continue working as a Special Agent, just not out of the Washington D.C. office. Melissa was on her knees now, and Dana noticed something in her hand. Dana quickly moved to her side and realized it was a handful of dirt. Missy was just about to place it into her mouth when Dana pulled it out of her hand. "No, Missy, no!" Dana scolded. "Don't eat that!" Melissa looked up at Dana with an all too familiar puppy dog look. Just one of the many traits Missy had picked up from her father. "Come on, Missy," Dana said, giving in and taking her daughter's hand. She led Melissa over to the side of the apartment and turned the hose on. The little sprinkler on the end of the hose squirted water into the grass. , Dana thought Missy promptly sat down and watched in rapt wonder as water sprinkled out. Suddenly, Dana heard a car pull up and park and Dana rushed to the front to greet her husband. Fox stepped out of the car and saw his wife run down the steps to him. Smiling, Fox gathered Dana in his arms and kissed her lovingly on the lips. Dana smiled back at him. "Hey, where's Missy?" Fox asked. "Oh, I left her watching the water," Dana realized running over to where Melissa was, Fox following her. There was nothing there. "Oh God," Dana whispered. "Look!" Fox said, pointing to the hose that snaked around the building. Hurriedly, they turned the corner only to come face to face with Melissa. Somehow, she had unscrewed the sprinkler and was standing there with the hose on her hand. Smiling, she raised the hose, pointed it at her parents and commenced on drenching them. * * * "I don't think I have ever been wetter before!" Fox exclaimed as he took of his shirt and wrung it out. "FOX! I hope you're not wringing out your shirt on our new rug!" Dana called from the bathroom. "How does she do that?" Fox whispered to himself. "You're just too predictable," Dana said as she came out of the bathroom. She already had a new change of clothes on and had blow drained her hair. "Where's Missy?" "In the kitchen," Fox answered before entering the bathroom and locking the door. Cautiously, Dana entered the kitchen. Missy was standing on top of the table, holding one of the oranges from the fruit bowl on the table. Seeing her mother, Missy smiled and threw the orange on the fall. "Ba!" she exclaimed. 'No, Missy," Dana sighed. 'The orange is not a ball. It's a fruit." She placed the orange back in the bowl. Missy stared at the orange for a while. She picked it up again and once more threw it on the floor. "Ba!" Dana bent over and put the orange back in the fruit bowl. After the tenth time Missy threw the orange on the floor, Dana took the bowl and put in away. At this, Missy attempted climbing up on the cabinets to where the bowl was. "No, Missy," Dana said as she pulled her daughter down. She placed Missy on the floor and took her hand. "Come on Let's go see your dad, OK?" Missy smiled and ran down the hall to her parent's bedroom, dragging Dana with her. "Hey, guys. Do you like my new shirt?" Fox turned around and showed Dana and Missy the design on his shirt. On the front, was a downed UFO and on the back was a bunch of aliens running away from reporters. It was hideous. Dana attempted a smile. Melissa stared at it with solemn eyes. "Spooky," she said. For a moment her parents didn't believe it. Was their daughter's first word actually 'Spooky'? 'What? What did you say, Missy?" Dana asked hunching over to be eye-level with her daughter. Missy looked straight at her mom. "Spooky," she repeated. Fox's face broke into a large grin. Laughing, he encircled his wife and daughter in a big hug. When they moved apart Dana smiled at him. "Figures, " was all she said as she moved to hug her husband and child again. ************************************************************************ So what do you think? If you liked it, e-mail me at my new address, PhoenixM42@aol.com. Look out for Eminent Domain Part 3- William. And just clearing up any confusion you might have, the OTHER Eminent Domain I wrote that doesn't have a little part thing attached to it is NOT a part of this series. I just happen to like the term and I thought that when I tried to post Eminent Domain Part 1, it didn't work so I used it again. Eminent Domain is part of a series, though, the Phoenix series which I plan to add stories to very soon.
