SUMMARY: Scully gets pregnant and learns some astonishing news about the baby. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* *Mulder and Scully's Apartment 4:14 PM* We were finally pregnant. That's all I needed to know to know that I was officially the happiest man on the planet Earth. Who would have ever thought that Fox Mulder and Dana Scully could have children, especially with Scully's infertility. But we surpassed the odds, as we have done so many times before. Two perfect opposites have united to produce a new living being that is me and that is her. Wow. Thank goodness for modern technology. I eventually told Scully that I had found her ova. I had gone to a fertilization specialist soon after I took them, and the doctor had preserved them for me. After we were married and we both decided we wanted kids, I told her. She was astounded and overjoyed to know that a part of her was still there. We decided, 17 months into our marriage, that we both wanted to start trying to have children, so we went back to that fertility clinic to try in-vetro fertilization. I gave my half of the necessary raw materials and we had the procedure done. The first time it failed. We decided to try again. Again, it failed, and again. We decided to give it one more shot. Now we are pregnant. I cannot describe that happiness well enough. The phone rings and I am startled out of my daze. Scully answers it with a hello. I hear only half of what she is saying; I am still totally in shock. Apparently I'm not the only one. It turns out that Monica is on the other end of the phone, and Scully just told her. I can hear her screaming. I laugh a little. After we were married, Scully and I quit the FBI and moved to the suburbs of Boston to a nice apartment. I was hired at the Office of Missing and Endangered Children. I am their prized criminal profiler, and I love what I do. Plus I get paid about 10 times as much as I did at the FBI. Scully has gotten a degree in pediatrics and opened a little practice about 3 miles from where we live. Needless to say, we both love kids. Unfortunately, our new life is too far away from John and Monica, who have become trusted friends. Needless to say the two of them are now engaged. I watch Scully's eyes light up when she laughs as she gives her friend details on the pregnancy. I grin along with her. 2 months later Mulder and Scully's Apartment 7:24 am "C'mon Mulder, we're gonna be late," My wife's voice floats down the hall. I throw the sheets off of my body and look next to me to find that Scully is already out of bed. I get up, pulling on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I brush my teeth and wash my face and hands. Since I shaved yesterday there is no need to do so today. Hurriedly, I try to pull on a sock as I stumble down the hall in half- confusion. Glancing at my watch, it is 7:30. I pull on my sneakers and grab my jacket. Scully is waiting for me in the kitchen. She is already dressed and sitting at the table with a glass of orange juice. I join her. "We should leave soon. I'll make it quick," I assure her. "Okay," she says, taking one last sip of her juice. I gulp mine and get up from the table. Once the glasses are cleaned, Scully grabs her purse and we leave the apartment, then the building. I take the car keys from my pocket as we step out of the building. There is something about the fresh air that makes my steps lighter, or maybe it is knowing we are going. We are going to have Scully's first ultrasound. We are going to meet our child. Office of Dr. Trenton Thumm OB-GYN Boston 8:02 AM "Now I need you to lie down flat and pull your shirt up to expose your belly. . . . .that's it, Dana. Now I just need to put some of the ultrasound gel on you, it might feel cold," Dr. Thumm takes the gel and squirts a liberal amount onto Scully's stomach, rubbing it around with the ultrasound tool. I hold Scully's hand and we smile at one another, knowing soon we will see our child for the first time. "Okay, here we go," the doctor says, turning on the machine. We look up at the screen. There is movement, and I can see my child moving. Then I hear the doctor gasp. "Oh, my," he whispers. He moves the tool across the areas of Scully's stomach, looking at the screen. After a while he lays down the tool. He looks straight at both of us. "I have some news for both of you," he says. "Is something wrong with my baby?" Scully asks. I am horrified at the very thought of something being wrong. The doctor looks at our terrified looks and laughs. "Oh, no. Your children are just fine." "Children? As in, plural?" I ask "Yes, it seems," the doctor confirms,"that you will have more than one child. In fact, you are going to be very busy first-time parents. Right now, it seems as if you, Dana, will be giving birth in roughly six months, to quadruplets." End
